Somehow, I've always known that I was going to end up in the home building arena in some way or another.  Drafting was the easy choice because I really enjoyed the design aspect of this industry.  So through high school and college I joined a framing crew to get the hands on experience needed for house plan designs.  I heard a lot while on the job site "this drafter needs to be out here to understand what it is they're drawing", and from the drawings I've used on the job site I would agree.  Well, that's where I am able to come in now.  I have that hands on experience needed to understand how the plan is going to form together from day one and can help you visualize things as needed along the way.  Backing up this hands on experience is my associates degree I received at Southeast Technical Institute where I graduated at the top of my class.  My final year there I was involved as a student representative for my department at the student government meetings, I was the president of the HBA (Home Builders Association) student chapter, and I was even chosen as the student of month (campus wide) for the month of October.

     After completing a drafting internship with the Sioux Falls school district I started working for Paul Fick Homes.  I worked there as their only drafter for 4.5 years (Aug. of 2012 - June of 2017).  The experience I gained from this position is equal if not more important than my building experience to how I run things today, because it gave me the chance to be the direct line between the clients and the subcontractors/staff of the company.  Being the only drafter meant that the entire planning process was resting on my shoulders and there was no room for error.

     So, where does Executive Drafting come from?  Well, it originated from a company called Char's Drafting Services.  Char had been in business for 25+ years by the summer of 2015 and I had heard she was considering retirement.  Long story short I bought the company she founded in 1990 and renamed it to Executive Drafting Services.  As I started to get my foot in the door with this new venture, I maintained 3 days a week with Paul Fick Homes and continued Char's work through Executive Drafting Services with any other time I could use up.  In June of 2017 I decided to make the leap to full time and I passed my position at Paul Fick Homes to capable hands.  In Sioux Falls and the surrounding region Char had been well known for her strong work ethic and how well she treated her customers.  I intend to continue this legacy by getting to know you and your needs for your dream home.
